What’s On in Scarborough in October 2026? Events, Entertainment & Things to Do

October is a brilliant time to visit Scarborough.

The summer crowds have started to thin out, the evenings are getting darker, and the town takes on a completely different atmosphere. There are still plenty of reasons to come to the coast, from live music and comedy to dancing, theatre and Halloween events.

So, whether you’re planning a weekend away, a midweek coastal escape or a longer Yorkshire break, here are some of the events taking place in Scarborough during October 2026.

Scarborough in October: more than just a summer destination

There’s a common idea that seaside towns are mainly a summer destination.

Scarborough proves otherwise.

Once the summer season starts winding down, the town’s entertainment venues continue to put on a packed programme, while the beach, harbour and coastal walks take on a much quieter feel.

October is also a great excuse to combine an event with a proper few days away.

Spend the afternoon walking around the coast, head back to your accommodation to get ready, enjoy an evening event and then wake up the next morning with the sea on your doorstep.

That’s a much nicer way to do it than driving home at midnight.

Live music in Scarborough this October

Music lovers have plenty to choose from.

The Rob Dylan Band – 9 October

The Rob Dylan Band brings the music of Bob Dylan to Scarborough Spa Theatre on Friday 9 October. The tribute show is part of the venue’s October programme.

Francis Rossi Songbook – 15 October

Francis Rossi brings his Quo – Past, Present, Future tour to the Scarborough Spa Grand Hall on Thursday 15 October, offering fans the chance to hear songs spanning Status Quo’s long career.

Northern Soul Weekender – 16–18 October

For something a little different, the Northern Soul Weekender runs from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 October.

The three-day event at Scarborough Spa features classic Northern Soul, rarities and soul favourites across two rooms, with DJs and plenty of dancing.

If you’re heading to this one, bringing your dancing shoes is probably a good idea.

The Wonder Stuff – 22 October

The Wonder Stuff head to Scarborough Spa on Thursday 22 October as part of their 40th Anniversary Tour, with Inspiral Carpets joining them.

There are also further music events and tribute shows throughout the month, including Sky Full of Stars – A Tribute to Coldplay on 17 October and The Story of Guitar Heroes on 23 October.

Comedy and entertainment

October isn’t all music.

Scarborough Spa has a packed comedy and entertainment programme too.

Dom Joly brings his Trigger Happy TV: The 25th Anniversary Tour to Scarborough on 4 October, while Sh!t-faced Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet takes over the Spa Theatre on 2 October.

There’s also Georgie Carroll: Infectious on 13 October and Paul Merton & Suki Webster’s Improv Show on 25 October.

For something a little different, How Far Away Are They? brings the cast of Phoenix Nights to Scarborough on 10 October for an evening of stories and memories.

Halloween comes to Scarborough

October wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of spooky season.

From 24 October to 1 November, Scarborough Castle is hosting its Halloween half-term event. English Heritage lists the event as running daily from 10am to 4pm.

Scarborough Spa also has a Halloween special on 29 October, with Magic Mike’s Halloween Special: The Not So Spooky Halloween Show, followed by a performance of Swan Lake in the Grand Hall on Halloween itself, 31 October.

So if you’re visiting during the final week of October, there’s plenty to build into a Halloween-themed coastal break.

What else can you do in Scarborough in October?

Of course, you don’t need an event to justify a trip.

October is a lovely time to explore Scarborough at a slower pace.

Take a walk along South Bay or North Bay. Head up towards Scarborough Castle for the views across the coastline. Explore the Old Town and Harbour. Find a cosy café for lunch, then finish the day with fish and chips before heading back to your accommodation.

And if the weather isn’t playing ball?

That’s what cafés, restaurants, pubs, galleries and a cosy holiday apartment are for.

You don’t have to spend every minute outdoors to enjoy a seaside break.

Why stay overnight?

This is where an event in Scarborough becomes much more than a night out.

Instead of driving home after a show or concert, why not turn it into a proper Yorkshire Coast break?

Arrive early, explore the town during the day, enjoy your event in the evening and wake up by the sea the following morning.

Yorkshire Coast Holiday Lets offers a selection of holiday accommodation in Scarborough, including sea-view apartments and properties close to the town’s beaches and attractions.

Whether you’re coming for a weekend of Northern Soul, a night of live music, a theatre show or simply fancy an autumn break by the sea, staying locally gives you the chance to enjoy Scarborough rather than simply passing through it.
