The Whitby Regatta 2022 August 13th, 14th, 15th, presents to you, four days of entertainment, embracing yacht racing, rowing races and various free forms of entertainment as published in the official programme, finishing with a prize presentation and spectacular firework display.
Then came the yachts. It was recorded in 1847 “The Whitby Challenge Cup”, promoted by the Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club, was won by the Schooner “Whiled”, and a prize of 50 guineas was presented to the captain or owner.
The team behind Whitby Regatta has thanked everyone who made this year’s event a success.
After missing last year due to COVID the organizing Committee put on a scaled-back event this year which was organized in record time.
The traditional rowing races took place over the weekend with the fair arriving in town on Sunday and a large fireworks display bringing the event to an end last night.
Whitby Regatta presents three full days of entertainment; embracing yacht racing, rowing races, fancy dress and funfair ride all culminating with a prize presentation and spectacular firework display.
Over one hundred and seventy years of aquatic competition and entertainment. The Whitby Regatta is probably the oldest sea Regatta on the northeast coast and has drawn large crowds into Whitby over the years.
